About Me

Daniel Larscheid, known to fans as Dan Steel, was born on the outskirts of Duluth, MN. Despite enduring a violent and abusive childhood, Daniel found solace and inspiration in music, thanks to his mother's love for old blues records.

From humble beginnings, creating improvised instruments with tin cans and broken strings, he taught himself to play piano by sneaking into the school’s music room. His talent didn’t go unnoticed; his school music teacher, Mrs. Thompson, became his mentor and gifted him an old guitar, transforming his musical journey.

Daniel’s breakthrough came when he captivated the audience with a raw and emotional performance at a school talent show, leading to a demo recording and local radio play of his original song, “Broken Strings.” The song’s success opened doors, eventually leading him to sign with Blue Note Records and release his debut album, “From Darkness to Light.”

Today, Daniel is not only a celebrated artist but also a dedicated philanthropist. Through his "Dan's Dream Foundation," he provides music scholarships and instruments to underprivileged children. He also established "Harmony Homes," shelters for victims of domestic abuse that incorporate music therapy into their healing process.
